Residents or their families may choose to receive medical services through a family physician or Golden Hill house physicians. All local physicians are welcomed in the facility. Other family physicians may obtain privileges at the facility. This open policy to physicians helps residents have a greater say in their care, and consequently, a better overall experience with Golden Hill Nursing Home.

Golden Hill Nursing Home is a qualified provider for special needs such as intravenous therapy used in hydration and antibiotic administration as well as for specialized pain control devices, naso-gastric tubes, gastronomy tubes and other higher-level services as physicians may order.

Golden Hill also offers on-site specialized care in psychiatry, podiatry, neurology, audiology and dentistry. If any prescribed services are not available on-site, staff will make arrangements to transport the resident for this medical care.

Golden Hill offers a range of rehabilitative therapies. The philosophy is to restore each resident as quickly as possible to his or her highest level of functioning and independence.

These comprehensive medical and rehabilitation services offer care to a wide variety of patients. Some residents are looking for active treatment to get back on their feet as they recover from surgery, a severe injury or a debilitating illness so that they can return home.

Rehabilitative services including Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy are also available.

Golden Hill's Dementia Care unit offers a specialized program for those with cognitive impairment. The program provides a flexible therapeutic plan that is individualized to meet the needs of those with Alzheimer's or dementia. Separate from the rest of the facility, the unit allows for a calm and relaxing atmosphere to promote independence. The unit is secure and has a covered patio for outside enjoyment. Our goal is for those with cognitive impairment to live in a safe/secure environment with dignity. We encourage autonomy in regard to making daily living decisions while promoting a high quality of life.

Qualified and well-experienced Social Workers assist with the residents' psychosocial needs. Social Services personnel serve as the residents' advocates. These services are available to all residents and their families.

The decision for nursing home placement often begins a difficult period of transition. Reassurance and emotional support is often needed when making this transition.

Golden Hill "culture change" philosophy encourages residents to participate in daily living decisions to ensure ease with this transition. Families are also encouraged to become part of the Golden Hill family. There, the social services department is able to assist with any emotional needs a resident may have during his/her stay. Creation of an independent and homelike environment helps balance care and daily living.

Psychosocial needs are identified through visits with both residents and families as well as through interdisciplinary efforts of the staff at Golden Hill working as a team.

Residents are continuously evaluated regarding capabilities, including mental and physical functions pertaining to their overall psychosocial well-being.

The Social Services Department also maintains a rapport and community support to offer the best possible outcome for residents. Ongoing evaluation of our residents' needs and input from residents and families help attain the highest quality of life.

In planning for discharge from respite, short-term or long-term care, the social worker will offer assistance. Social workers will make necessary referrals such as Area Agency on Aging, meal services, transportation services, private duty services, nursing services and alternate placements when necessary or requested.

Golden Hill's Dentist routinely provides care for the residents. Residents are also welcome to retain their own dentist, and Golden Hill will be happy to arrange, handle and transport them for follow-ups. Golden Hill's staff will help arrange for a resident's specific dental need.

Nursing Services at Golden Hill provide wound care, IVs, implanted ports, 24/7 RN supervision, nutrition, restorative nursing programs, skilled medical assessments, pain management, and preventative skin programs.

Laboratory services are provided on-site based on physician orders.

Pharmacy services are provided on-site. If a resident or responsible party prefers, outside pharmacy services may be used.

Proper nutrition planning is vital in assisting residents to reach optimal levels of functioning.

Delicious, appetizing, well-planned menus, which include a wide variety of food and beverage choices are provided.

Golden Hill also provides restaurant-style dining with a selective menu for all residents who wish to eat in the Golden Hill dining room.

Special dining requests are welcomed at Golden Hill to make each resident's stay as home like as possible, balancing personal preferences and specific dietary needs to provide the best menu possible. A full-time Food Service Supervisor and a consulting Registered Dietician are on our staff.

If residents desire a food or beverage item not provided by our dietary department, family members are welcome to make arrangements to have special food items stored in Golden Hill's kitchen area for a resident's use.

A vending area of "snacks" and "munchies" are always available for residents and visitors.

Golden Hill offers a unique dining program. Breakfasts in the main dining room are made-to-order. A breakfast chef will create meals for any resident who comes to the dining room.

Our meal choices are of high quality and are chosen for the menu by our residents. Special holiday meals and celebrations are a part of the Golden Hills experience. Good dining experiences only enhance your stay at Golden Hill.

Religious services are offered for all denominations and at all levels of participation including various church services and Bible studies. Annual memorial services remember and honor residents and friends who have passed on. Golden Hill seeks to provide religious services for all residents' religious/spiritual commitment.

At Golden Hill, rooms are cleaned daily. Laundry services are provided free of charge. Arrangements can be made for residents who want to do their own laundry.

Golden Hill employs a beautician four days a week. A barber is contracted on-site on select Mondays of each month. Both services are offered to residents free of charge.
